Well, well, well, so, finally Mars has entered Leo. And today I start my Mars in houses series.

I had been trying very, very hard to start the Mars series, since the last month, but it just won’t happen. Then I realized that Mars was debilitated in the sign of Cancer. So when it entered Leo, things just fell in place, and here I am hammering on my favourite keyboard. For the record, yours truly has Mars in Leo in his horoscope, so I take this as a blessing. My Leo Mars is roaring through me, and asking me to teach people about his importance and characteristics. So here we go:

 

MARS IN 1ST HOUSE:

Mars in the first is the most one of the most powerful positions that are person can have, particularly for males. Mars in 1st gets a lot of fiery energy and the first sign of the Zodiac is the fiery sign of Aries, which is Mool Trikona sign of Mars.

 

In this house Mars can be like the proverbial “Headstrong” ram (I don’t think any other animal has a “stronger head” than the ram, and very few have the energy, vitality, or vulnerability of this animal. You will find most of these qualities in Mars 1st people.

And I usually like to refer to pop culture especially movies, in order to make astrological concepts easy to understand.

 

Sonny Corleone: For people, if you have seen “The Godfather” Sonny Corleone, the elder son of the Don was a typical double Aries as per my calculation. He had Aries Mars in the first house so that made him double areas. So, this was the guy who was impulsive and impatient from the very start and could yell at his brothers, bully his subordinates, spit at cops, beat up his brother in law for hurting his sister, can wage a bloody war with a lot of heart but was naïve enough to walk into a death trap laid by a more cunning enemy.

One of the character signifying Mars in Western Astrology is Aers, who was invincible in a straight battle, but was easily beaten by cleaver enemies using an attack from the behind. So, that character of Sony Corleone sums up the Mars in the first architype for me.

Sunny Deol: Coming to Indian movie stars, one person who personifies this placement is Sunny Deol (Yeah I am a Punjabi…!). Most of his movies, he is portrayed as an angry young man who is great at beating the daylights out of the bad guys, the quintessential He-Man. Remember when he routed the handpump, bet your version of angry young man won’t look so convincing doing that. I rest my case.

So there you have it. The Western and Desi versions. Let’s continue.

 

 

Short Temper:  Their temper is famous, and they have a short fuse. In The Godfather, Sonny gets a call from his opponents telling him that they have is confidant and telling him to “not don't lose that famous temper of yours”. So these people are quick to anger.

They can flair up about anything right from a waiter, giving them wrong order to car overtaking them, these guys would have flames coming out of their eyes at slightest provocation. Road rage is a common thing that gives them injuries and scars.

Impulsive: Do you know someone who purchases useless costly stuff just because they “felt like it.” They probably have Mars in the first house (at times Moon does that, but later asks for a refund). But Mars is too proud to ask for one. They would just keep it, gift it, or even throw it if they “feel like it”. Impulsiveness is second nature to them. It comes through because they have so much fire. They just want to act on it.

The Starters: Mars is the starter of Zodiac with sign of Aries, which is the first sign. Then it gets the restless Nakshtras of Ashwini, Bharini and Krittika. All of them restless, high energy and raring to go, even pick a fight if necessary to go on to their path, the problem is that they don’t have enough patience to stick to a path and they start everything and finish almost nothing. Finishing is a Saturn and Capricorn business, once they are in they would see it through. But Capricorn shyness holds them back from usually starting off. Aries and Mars would hammer their way in if they want, and then yawn their way out if they are bored. Very few things barring war and sports keep their attention for long.

The Fighters: Mars 1st guys are almost always ready for a fight, and they usually do the violence for those whom they love, and of course for themselves. These guys are not shy of a fight. They will pick a fight all the way from classrooms to board rooms and they are virtually unstoppable once inebriated with the spirit of war. “Bloodlust” is a real thing for these people. Nothing scares these people easily. In fact fighting which a Moon person would avoid at all costs, Mars person finds it to be an entertaining and exhilarating time pass. Would spend time yelling, lobbying and strategizing, even physically fighting, while most other people would want to exit from a battle when faced with these people. They are just wired differently.

Violence Likes Me. I can’t avoid: The famous meme of movie KGF 2 applies here. I have seen these people have an affinity for all kind of violence, and males just have a thing for arms and weapons. They are comfortable with all firearms, swords, knives, arrows, and what have you. I have seen them handle the arms like a pro. Despite all the restrictions they would often own firearms, bunch of hunting knives, swords of the ancestors, or at the very least a baseball bat and boxing gloves. Violence is a second nature to them and they have the energy and courage that is required to create and control violence. Then they often tend to get into fights because of this.

SCARFACE: Thanks to their affinity for violence, contact sports, and rapid fast action, they often end up injuring themselves, usually on the face or the head. The mark of which stays with them for life. Remember Mars in most of descriptions in Indian, as well as Western astrology. Particularly Western depiction has a scar on his face. This is one mark that Mars leaves on its children, branding them as one of his own. Mars does that. Even its branding is bloody and violent.

Broad Noses: These guys have broad noses which you would see prevalent in boxers and fighters a lot. Their fiery system consumes a lot of oxygen. Their physical activity needs strong air supply and nature gives them strong broad noses that can ensure that they get all the oxygen that they need.

THE PATRIOT SOLDIER:  I have seen these people are usually extremely loyal and patriotic when it comes to their country. Their region, their family and their tribe. These guys make excellent soldiers. Right from soldier for the nation to a soldier for their people. You don’t dare insult their country, tribe or family in front of them. The retaliation would be swift and strong. Most soldiers by the very definition have a strong Mars in their charts, they won’t qualify for any army as long as they don’t have a strong Mars.

Brilliant at Sports and War: Mars people aren’t the brightest students in the classroom, that is more of a Mercury-Jupiter arena. You won’t find them happy in the classroom or laboratory, but they suddenly turn geniuses when it comes to the sports grounds. They don’t know how to calculate velocity of a coming ball, but they would know how to smash it for a six. Sports is war without the bloodshed, and these guys shine at sports and war both. When it comes to war strategies they make amazing military generals especially if Mars is in Capricorn or Scorpio. I have some clients who were at high posts in armed forces, most had a well placed Mars, usually in 1st, 10th or 7th house.  

Vengeance: Remember Mars rules Scorpio, the sign of revenge. Mars doesn’t forgive or forget easily. This is one of the biggest difference between sun people and Mars people. Sun will forgive if they get an apology. Sun has a big ego, Sun is the king. But Mars is the commander in chief, his hand is always on the sword. Mars may forgive with difficulty but he would never forget. They know how to hold a grudge, they might wait for years to strike back but they will take revenge.

Self-Centric: Aries is the sign of the infant. An infants are very self-centric. Don't give a damn. If they are hungry, they would scream at three in the night and wake up the parents. So similarly, Mars people to them, they are all that matters. They can throw a tantrum when not paid attention to. They want what they want. They don't care what the world things about them. So, Mars in the first is like an infant, they can be difficult to handle. But just as endaring when they are in a good mood.  

 

Touchingly Naïve: These people can be touchingly naïve, they would typically defend  the underdog. They will cheer for the weaker team. They just like to fight against the odds. These people are very idealistic as long as not afflicted by Shani Rahu or Ketu, in which case they can be sinister and dogmatic.  They are terribly outspoken. They do not know what is political correctness. If you ask them how they feel about something, they will tell you how they feel. You might ask regret asking them but they will not regret telling. Shani can lie through the teeth. Mars can't lie to save his life.

Unreasonably Positive: Talking about Shani, Shani people can be ridiculously negative, on the contrary, Mars people are always almost always unreasonably positive. “Dekha Jayega”, i.e. “we will do something about it.” That's, that's their motto. They have loud voice and strong convictions but they can be unreasonable. They think they can bend reality, and in youth this gets them in trouble often. They can be cheated and heartbroken, but these people have a beauty. They always have an incredible ability to Bounce back.

Unlike Shani and Moon people, these people do not take it to the heart, the fire in the heart. That burns away a lot of negatives and there is a forceful spirit backed by boundless energy.

 

Alpha Males: Just like Venus in 1st is better for women, Mars in 1st is better for men. If Mars is in 1st house for female native, she can be very good looking, healthy and energetic, but there is something very forceful about her which some people, like, but some don't. But men almost always find the 1st house Mars a Happy placement. Sun and Mars men still rule the world. Sun is the boss in a condescending but kind way, while Mars men are the lovable rascals. The typical “Alpha Male” types, who get a lot of female attention. Sun impresses, Mars excites. You know what I am talking about.

 

 

Health Nuts: Another thing these people do not suffer from bad health, yes, they get through a lot of injuries. They are clumsy they can hurt themselves, but they usually do not have things like diabetes or depression. Mars, in the first can work out easily and even joyfully. Gym is their territory, they make great gym bros, competing with each other and increasing sets. Abs, yeah baby. However, these people can have a lot of acid in their stomach. So acidity is often seen, especially if the fifth house is afflicted. So they should go easy on the spicy food. Stick to protein shakes and paneer, gym bro, I am rooting for you.

Live for the day: If Mars is not in an earth sign, these people work in short intense bursts. They are great project managers, but terrible operations managers, day to day is boring for them, they must have excitement. I remember reading a news article in which a soldier in Afghanistan was put in a bureaucratic position, and he was telling how he was bored and longed for “days of action”. Well that’s Mars for you. They prefer chaos of war instead of hum drum of day to day. I don’t approve, but I can understand.

Financially irresponsible: These guys think money is to be enjoyed, even burned for personal excitement. The famous “Dekha Jayega” attitude, often lands them into financial trouble. They make expense like there is no tomorrow, and are happy to take loans for immediate gratification. For them life is a party and YOLO is their motto. Unless they have a strong 2nd or 11th house, they won’t be financially in a great place. But their energy and grit almost always allows them to make enough money to make their life good again. And if they can, they would lend you money very easily. Most of the times they have big heart and they are very genuine. Their friends are their friends, and they don’t judge them, and expect not to be judged.

 

 

Manly Careers: Now, like I said, they are high testosteron people and they have a lot of energy and fire. They are usually drawn to physical and violent occupations like sports police Army. I have seen a lot of Army and sports police people with Mars in first or seventh house. They also do well in good in logistics and Engineering, but they hate desk jobs. You will not find a lot of computer engineers with marks in the first. Computer Engineering is typically a Shani Mercury thing. It is unlikely that you would find them on a desk job, but you will find the guys on the oil fields, construction sites, borders, police stations, stadiums, hospitals and yes even in jail. They are all men. So all the good bad ugly side of manhood is boosted in them.

The Sword arm of Sun: These people are defenders of the clan, and the family, and the nation. These people will go to war to protect their own. If you have a friend with Mars in first, chances are that you call him up if there is trouble. Remember no matter how ugly things are, he got your back. Mars is the sword arm of the Sun, the hitman of the Boss. Sun is the true Godfather in my books, Mars is Sonny. Sun could be the higher ranking politician, Mars can be his bodyguard. Sun can be a top ranking military General Mars can be the black ops commando. One great example of Sun – Mars relationship could be Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman. We all know how important Lord Hanuman was to Lord Ram.

 

 

WHAT ABOUT MANGLIK: So you can’t talk about Mars without addressing Manglik. Yes Mars 1st house is considered Manglik but it is not the bad kind of Manglik.

 

Would you not want your child to marry someone who is strong, positive, resilient and healthy?

 

This is particularly great for men. So if your daughter is getting a boy with a healthy Mars, that is the best thing that can happen to her. Remember a healthy female would always be attracted to a man with a strong Mars.

 

It is the Indian parents that have started “THE GREAT BETA FACTORY” called the Indian system, where teachers, parents and bosses, beating the Mars out of the normal Indian boys.

We are busy making Saturn dominated IT Coolies, slaving away in schools, coaching centers, and offices, while their corporate overlords ask them to work for 90 hours in the name of “Nation building and work ethics”. They are criticised and dominated by everyone right from parents to teachers to bosses, to any other authority figure.

In the flood of these Shani type beta males, it is rare to find a real Alpha male. Let your Mars 1st child be himself. You will thank me later. 

Coming to Manglik:

Here is a bombshell: Shani Ketu and Sun are the top 3 planets causing divorces. A bad moon can be considered number 4. Stop badmouthing Mars so much, will you? Manglik is not that big a deal. RELAX.
